Ironing and Weaving – A Workshop with Hanna Mohr and Miriam Hartung
In "Ironing and Weaving", contemporary crafting with ironing beads is combined with the traditional tapestry weaving technique. Both methods are based on a grid and use pixels to determine the image pattern. As such, the process of creating patterns is not as different as it might seem at first glance. During the workshop, participants collaboratively explored creative possibilities and freely combined these two techniques.
Miriam and Hanna warmly invited participants to "Ironing and Weaving" to bring crafting and artisanal techniques into the exhibition space as an artistic practice.
The workshop took place in June 2023 as part of Alvar Bohrmann's "Krawallmische" exhibition in the university gallery spce in Kiel.
